The job market had improved, but in February 2020, COVID-19 has put a heavy foot on the brakes of hiring.  Companies were being forced to have employees work from home, which is easy for IT people.  We have seen numerous layoffs and people put on furlough during that time. Post Covid – company attitudes about remote work have changed.  Even companies that said they would never let their staff work remote, have given in and most companies now work on a hybrid routine of 1-2 days remote and 3-4 days on site.  Many companies also hired new people that were 100% remote for either full-time or part-time needs.  As the supply of RPG Developers has grown thin, more companies have been willing to be more flexible. There are a few openings out there, but companies are still being frugal and requiring more diverse skills when they do hire.  The reality is currently there are still very few openings in the IBM i – RPG sector, and there is currently a shortage candidates available with very specific skills that companies are requiring.  But as companies get very selective about wanting more skill sets, we are hard pressed to find all of the skills the client is looking for. We typically have filled/covered every opening within 24 to 48 hours, but in some cases companies are taking a long time to find the exact skill sets and it is taking these companies 6 months or longer to hire someone.   In this market it is critical for us to have your resume ready to go (edited, emphasis of related job skills, Skills Matrix and spell-checked) so that we can act quickly to get your resume to a client first. Your complete address must be on your resume and it helps to know your current or last salary.

Yes we place mostly RPG Developers and System i Infrastructure people, but we also get requirements for Visual Basic.Net, C#.Net, PHP, Networking experts, Business Analysts, Sharepoint developers, EDI specialists, even Excel and Access programmers.  But Unless we have your current resume and skills details in our database, you will not hear about that perfect match because we did not know about you or that you were looking.

Due to urgency of getting resumes out to new jobs as soon as possible, many jobs never make it to getting updated on our web site. When we get a new job opening, we immediately go to our most recent resumes because we know those people are available. The best advice is for you to drop us an email every once in a while to let us know you are still active and update us with any changes in your goals, availability or new skills you may have added.  Seeing your email updates serves as a constant reminder that you are out there waiting for that “right opportunity.”

How to Submit Your Resume

  • Submit salary or rate history for your last three employers.
  • Resumes Must be in WORD format with no graphics or special formatting
  • Include your complete address and contact information.
  • Be sure to have your HOME e-mail address on your resume. We can lose e-mail.
  • Please rename your resume file as:
First name Lastname.doc (example John Smith.doc)

This will help us track your resume. Everyone likes to call their resume file Resume.doc or something similar.  This makes it difficult to locate your resume.

Please help us by including your salary and objectives of job types and viable job locations in the body of your e-mail. Include your availability date and reason for looking, layoff, potential layoff, contract ending, etc.
